The project is currently at an early stage, and is seeking contributors, both for the exchange of ideas and expertise, and to contribute to the development of the tools to showcase the advantages of editable PDF.
The open-source formatting tool Pint Publisher is being developed to prototype and demonstrate some of the features of hybrid and editable PDF.
The scientific publishing domain has been chosen as the initial testbed for the concepts presented here, and in the course of the Workshop on the Future of Scholarly Publishing, we will be trialling a new workflow based on hybrid JATS/PDF documents for generating the workshop’s Proceedings.
